Activity Appropriate Dress and Grooming Standards
 

Dress Expectations: Clothing should be appropriate for the activity, modest, clean, and in keeping with the spirit of the University Honor Code avoiding tight or form fitting clothing and extremes in styles, form, or colors.  Knee length shorts are preferable. Short shorts are not appropriate. Shirts must be worn in all non-aquatic activity areas. Tank top style shirts are not appropriate. Men's swim suits must be trunk style only.  Women's swim suits must be one-piece or tankini-style. All swimwear must be specifically made for use in swimming pools. Shoes should cover the foot (i.e. no open-toed shoes such as sandals) and be appropriate for the activity and the facility. In addition, shoes for play on wooden floors or tennis courts must have non-marking soles.

Grooming Expectations: Hairstyles for all should be clean and neat, avoiding extreme styles or colors, and for men, trimmed above the collar, leaving the ear uncovered. Sideburns should not extend below the earlobe or onto the cheek. If worn, moustaches should be neatly trimmed and may not extend beyond or below the corners of the mouth. Men are expected to be clean-shaven; beards are not acceptable. Earrings and other body piercing are not acceptable for men. For women, excessive ear piercing (more than one per ear) and all other body piercing is not appropriate . Shoes should be worn in all public campus areas and in certain activity areas as indicated above.

Guests: An occasional guest is expected to keep the standards and policies. The guest's sponsor should explain the policies and standards before using the facilities.

Dependents: Please note that any dependents eligible for use of the facilities are expected to comply with the dress and grooming standards and facility use policies.
